Dr. Mike D. Phillips attended Lubbock Christian University for his pre-med degree. He transferred from there to the University of Houston, where he completed his Doctor of Optometry degree. He is certified as a Therapeutic Optometrist, allowing him to treat patients for vision and medical problems related to the vision system. Dr. Phillips is a native-born Texan and a graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Tx. After receiving his Optometry license, Dr. Phillips setup a solo practice in Pittsburg, Texas. Seven years later, he sold that practice and moved to the DFW metroplex, setting up his first practice in the Collin Creek Mall in 1987. That same year, he co-founded Primary Eye Care, growing it into a sixty-plus office association with over two hundred employees, stretching across the entire state of Texas. He later sold the Primary Eye Care business to the associated doctors, and, in 2008, co-founded Eye Clinic, PA (Plano Eye Clinic), located in the Collin Creek Mall. In early 2019, When Collin Creek Mall announced their pending closure for major reconstruction, Dr. Phillips formed an alliance with one of Plano’s best known optometric businesses… Lakeside Vision & Optical. “ I selected Lakeside Vision & Optical for a number of reasons. Their ophthalmic equipment is state of the art, allowing me to provide complete eye care, diagnosing and treating conditions that most optometrist cannot. Their existing tech and optical staff are top-notch. Adding my staff to theirs made for a great team of vision specialists. Their past ownership and the present owner, Dr. Deborah Moon, exemplify what the ideal optometrist should be like. The Lakeside Optical is a showplace of optical excellence. I am glad to be here!” When not practicing, Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with his wife, Cirrie Phillips, his four daughters, their spouses, and his fourteen grandchildren! He is also active in his church family, worshiping with McDermott Road Church of Christ.
